@saulocpp 2 Stroke has more power at any displacement compared with normally aspirated 4 strokes. Look at Evinrude and find out why they stayed with 2 stroke for there newest spec outboard marine engines. A 990 cc 2 stroke race engine would make way more power than the current MotoGP machines. That much power would have a detrimental effect on lap times as Honda found out when they built 500 cc, 212 HP bikes: times went up. So the 4 strokes make GP racing easier but it's duller to watch.

@lambrettist2007: It is obvious that the 2 stroke has more power with a smaller displacement, it is just the nature of the engine, it was made to work this way. You would argue that the past F1 engines, which were 1500cc V6 turbo, with more than 1200HP in qualifying, were better than today's engines, and looking at the lap times, it is obviously wrong. It is not rocket science.

Honda at the time said that they were building 500 cc GP engines of 212 HP. Doohan's NSR 500 was a 200+ HP machine. 2 Stroke, 4 cylinders, 500 cc, 200+ HP. 4 Stroke, up to six cylinders, 990 cc, 200+ HP. Even in 2010 it takes nearly twice the engine displacement for a racing 4 stroke to equal a 10 year old 2 stroke race engine.

Sound like women over the goat. They all are great and being the best should only matter to them, and not us. We are meant to enjoy it all. Btw, this video has terrible contrast and terrible music. (Good song, terribad for this video)

dont compare riders unless same race-Doohan stopped a career that could have gone on alot longer he gave up 4 his own reasons and we all know he was capable to win several more world crowns-such a dominating rider he was head and shoulders above his competitors wen he stopped-few riders win by the amounts mick did today-im a mick fan a rossi fan and 10 others ta boot-grt racing is wat its all about and these guys are all legends in their time and forever.

These are different periods of competion. No point arguing who's best. They were both the elite of their era. It's so simple.

Doohan rode a 170HP bike, Rossi rides 200+HP bikes. This is power, not 2 or 4-stroke. The decision was purely environmental, it has nothing to do with slowing down the bikes. And obviously they are A LOT faster now. This is called evolution. Doohan was great, no doubt, but Rossi rewrote MotoGP.

@sprcampbell ya and Doohan used ride the 'big bang' motor when no one else could,he was tough as nails too,all the injuries and still kicked ass :D

im sorry rossi fans but mick was the best people say rossi never got injured but he is riding four strokes and late model 2 strokes every one knows that the 80 and 90 2 strokes were evil thats why any joe blo couldnt ride them how many of us jump on our track bikes and are scared of the bike . not me im scared that im a bad rider and will crash lol but the mick and oher 80s rider have all been quoted as saying they were scared at one time new bikes are soft and mick is best then rossi then sheen |
