Yeah, when I saw the promotional posters that showed Pine as Kirk, I thought it was a mistake, but I think he captured the essence of Kirk well in the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Holy crap! It's a paradox!

@BrandonRhea What's closedminded is the lack of understanding of others' opinions. It's a rewrite TO ME. U don't have to agree with it &personally I don't care. I think fans who thought this movie of any credibility are not true fans to Star Trek. But that's my opinion. I don't care who thought it was great or not. I have the right to think what I think about the movie just like anyone does. I went to a ST con and Patrick Stewart said it lacked content. So we all have our opinions.

@articspider You're entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't change fact. It's an alternate timeline that allows it to be a reboot within canon. And it's really only closed minded fans who think it's a joke on Roddenberry's vision. The Roddenberry family enjoyed the film, and Gene Roddenberry himself said that people would be doing this some day.Roddenberry was concerned with the story and the message, not canon. Hell, the original series couldn't even figure out what century it was in.

@BrandonRhea I disagree. With no Romulus and no Vulcan is completely outrageous to me. It's a rewrite of the original. You make alternate timelines because you can't write any better story. In my opinion it is a joke on Roddenberry's vision of Star Trek. If JJ were to reverse that alternate timeline I would agree with you, but sorry I just don't. Of course this is just my opinion.

@articspider It's an alternate timeline. The original timeline remains intact. It's essentially a reboot that can still be kept within canon due to Nero going back in time, which created an alternate timeline that coexists with the original.

JJ's Star Trek XI is not a reboot. It's a rewrite of Star Trek history which I find bad. Very bad of JJ.
