You people are taking this WAY too seriously... it's a franchise of fictional works, not a religion. Abrams did a great job IMO. It's fresh, it's fun, it's appealing to people who might have thought TOS was too campy, or TNG too intellectual.

That the trailer for the rebooting of the Star Trek franchise would be about a young Jim Kirk driving his mother's boyfriend's classic twentieth century car off the edge of a canyon while jumping out at the last instant tells you all that you need to know about this movie.

I saw this movie and think it was no less impressive than Avatar - great acting, directing, magnificent visual effects. Chris Pine, Winona Ryder, Eric Bana and Jennifer Morrison did a brilliant job!!!

Sorry, but as a life long ST fan i have to say: The new "Star Trek" DOES suck. I think it's superficial popcorn cinema with characters that are like taken from a cartoon, and behave like some stupid superheroes, not like real people. For me, the new "Star Trek" has almost nothing of what I like about the real Star Trek. It's a shame how the copyright owners use the popularity of the franchise to make some cheap dollars with this space action movie.. Just my opinion. .....

JJ abrams has no business doing star trek.

are kind of separated from the rest of the world, not bound by laws or goverments and are free to go wherever they want. The romulans/Nautilus crew also seek to attack their percieved enemies, in this case, Federation/ Western colonial powers

I wonder if parts of the story have been inspired by Jules Verne,s "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea." I you think about it there are strong parallels. In star trek there is commander Nero, In the "Under the sea" there,s captain Nemo. In trek there,s Narada, in the book there,s Nautilus. In both stories Nero and Nemo are tragic, vengeful characters, who have both lost their family and homeland/planet and have kind of self-exiled themselves. And Narada and Nautilus, together with their crews

The movie had much better acting.

Well your right. Starfleets primary mission is peacful exploration of the galaxy. But their secondory mission is to blow everygoddamnthing that threathens the federation out of the sky

The Federation does not use nuclear weapons or energy of any sort. Starfleet's primary mission is peaceful exploration of the galaxy. Their weapons are defensive in nature, and their tactical teams are mainly onboard security personell. I agree Terminator 4 was a waist. (Personally, I thought they should have stopped after the first one. It is great and tells the whole story, but I seem to be in the minority on this one.) As for the psudeo science, like the Beatles said, "Let it be". |
