they never adequately described the phenomenon of time travel... slingshot around the sun, pick up enough speed you're in time warp...shya. So did vulcan time travel through the black hole? What about the Romulan sun? Worst line in the movie: Pardon me, but I don't believe that we have been aquainted. so polite...*barf*

same thing could be said about the new halo:reach. they took the easy way out, instead of even coming up with a new original story they just stuck with the backstory. i think a 'new' 'backstory' was a pretty cool unique idea that worked well for star trek, and it wasn't as easy as simply rewriting star trek history. the risk was some people would like it, some people wouldn't. instead of wondering if they should or shouldn't have, i just choose to enjoy it for what it is.

@Phobos6789 : Yeah, okay, but jesus, doesn't anyone else have a problem with the fact that Abrams staged the entire movie in an alternate timeline so that he could change the basic historical FACTS of Star Trek, or at least not have to adhere to any of them he found "inconvenient"?? The true test for the writers, director and actors would have been to stick to all the known continuity of Star Trek and still make a great movie. It could have been done, and should have.

I bet the English are.Considering that as an Englishmen few things are beneath him, but one of those are the French. With the assumption of superior culture that is the gag reflex they call a language and the miserable failures of their military recently the English are right. "for sale, one WW2 era French Gerrand rifle, never fired, dropped once".

of all the good anti star trek ones with valid points,..this was just you being po'd your kirk wasn't the shining star with the smoking gun. imho he and spock were team supreme while at the same time having their own roles. if you go into the movie assuming who the main character is going to be, then you messed the movie up for yourself already. it's like the rock in doom (no, karl urban is the new doomguy). who knew? besides, different star trek, new timeline right? things are different.
