That's true that the Starfleet is an all-volunteer force, but you have to remember that the Dominion War came on the heels of the Klingion conflict and the Second Borg invasion, and given the size and scope of the Dominion War, I would have to imagine that the Federation would have to institute some form of draft.

Good points, but we are talking about thousands of planets and many trillions of people... so we are talking less than 0.001 percent of Federation members participating in the battle to save the entire quadrant.

The problem star trek has is that its been around for so long and had so many technologies thrown into over the course of it ... that they have so many technical issues to overcome and holes left whenever they try ... Mass Effect has the best space battle considerations of the lot since they have thought it all through in development and considered most aspects of physics and science

I take it the Federation and Starfleet is an all-volunteer-force. Plus, considering the larger ships contain upwards of 1,000 crewmembers, it seems about right. Also, they couldn't pull every fleet from every battlefield.

There must be many trillions of people in UFoP, they can only come up with 600 ships? XD

@Wsupermain2 ,You hit the nail on the head. Star trek is in my opinion more believable than Star wars.

True. The most believable at least in its depiction of technology and space fareing i found 2010.

06:02. Galaxy Wing 9-1 Commander: (Thinking to himself "Ah, fuck.") "(Outloud with full confidence) Helm, plot a course for 026-118, full impulse. Tactical, and Ops, coordinate with Galxay Wing 9-3. Tactical, standby to delvier an upper main strike on nearest Galor Class destroyer. Target weapons systems for disablement. Fire for effect. Helm, plot a follow up course for Track 0426. Standby for course corrections. Medical bay, prepare to receive heavy casualities..."

Just the battle scene alone is fun to watch. I particularly love the poem that Dr Bashir and O'Brien recite.
