In this BBC special "James May on the Moon", James May from Top Gear U.K. is taken on an emotional ride to the edge of space in a U-2 spyplane. I took this version from the Patricks Aviation file sharing site - well worth a look http://www.patricksaviation.co...

@jalsante75 He said 'goB' smacked actually. Gob is English/Irish slang for mouth. It refers to being hit in the mouth by surprise and therefore being 'utterly shocked'. So, the sentiment is similar then, it's just not divine in its nature ;).

"GOD SMACKED"...I would have to agree. My sentiments exactly! Beautiful video!

Look up something called "vapour pressure". Basically, water is kept from boiling by the pressure of the air. Reduce the pressure, and water will boil at a lower temperature. The pressure at the altitude he went to is so low,the heat from your body would be sufficient to boil the water from the surface of your eyes.

Heights freak me out, but that wouldn't, no doubt. That would be unbelieavably breathtaking...you wouldn't feel high up, you'd feel separated from EERYTHING... very cool

boil is the evaporation of fluids because you are exciting the molecules. BUT it can also boil because you are lowering the vapor pressure ... so it does convert to the next stage of matter and then to a solid.... As for hot and cold, in direct sunlight it can get as hot as 350 degrees and as cold as -200 degrees.... space is extreme.

The temperature required for liquids to vaporize (boil) drops as the temperature approaches 0 kelvin.

The higher you are in altitude, the lower the temperature liquid boils at.
schlumee (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
It has nothing to do with the temperature, but the low atmospheric pressure at that altitude.

thats beautifull :-)shame man will destroy it
Mithsereg (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Due to reduced pressure at that altitude, not because of the temperature.
